NuEnergy.ai launches the Machine Trust Index™ — an open framework to measure trust in Artificial Intelligence

OTTAWA Canada, August 22, 2018 — At the recent CIO Strategy Council meeting hosted by co-chairs Jim Balsillie and Alex Benay, innovative Artificial Intelligence (AI) consultancy, NuEnergy.ai outlined their solution to the growing global concern around the trustworthiness of AI: The Machine Trust Index (MTI).

The MTI is a framework that can be used to quantify trust in AI products and services. NuEnergy.ai aims to nurture the initiative into a diverse community to assist many types of organizations navigate the challenging area of achieving principled and trustworthy AI-enabled solutions as this revolutionary technology matures.

On August 15th, NuEnergy.ai’s CEO Niraj Bhargava introduced the MTI to key members of the CIO Strategy Council. The objective of the full-day event involving leading CIOs from across Canada, was to establish leadership and commitment to spearheading the development of the first-ever globally-recognized standards for the ethical use of both artificial intelligence (AI) and big data.

The CIO Strategy Council provides a forum for Canada’s most forward Chief Information Officers to focus on collectively transforming, shaping and influencing the Canadian Information and technology ecosystem. With frequent meetings between industry leaders in both the private and public sector, their Standards Policy Committee (SPC) aims to spearhead standards work benefitting its members and the Canadian economy.

“The ability to quantify trust and share it with customers and citizens is a creative solution to a difficult problem”, explains Executive Director of the CIO Strategy Council, Jenna Sudds, who was present for the discussion. “The MTI received a great reception at our meeting, with significant ongoing discussion on implementation benefits of such a tool.”

The Council’s vision is that when fully developed, through an open national forum and dialogue with this country’s top experts, the standards will be a game changer, giving the Canadian ICT ecosystem and the economy a competitive edge.
