NuEnergy.ai announces software integration of Government of Canada’s Algorithm Impact Assessment Framework

NuEnergy’s Machine Trust Platform selected to be presented at Open Government Partnership 2019

Ottawa May 30, 2019 – Today, at the Global Open Government Partnership Summit, NuEnergy.ai announced it has obtained a license to integrate the Government of Canada’s Algorithmic Impact Assessment (AIA) methodology into NuEnergy’s Machine Trust Index software platform.

NuEnergy.ai, a bold Canadian startup, continues to enhance its patent-pending Machine Trust Index (MTI) methodology to help safeguard users and citizens against unintended harm from machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms. The Government of Canada’s Algorithmic Impact Assessment (AIA) assesses the degree of potential impact and consequent mitigating actions that need to be taken when designing, building and monitoring an AI system.

“I am thrilled with the leadership NuEnergy has taken in the ethical AI space. Their enthusiasm and dedication to the cause should be applauded. They are exactly the type of partner the public service needs to better serve Canadians.” – Alex Benay, Chief Information Officer of Canada

NuEnergy.ai is one of a few firms selected by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) to present at this week’s Open Government Partnership (OGP) event where Prime Minister Trudeau last night opened and welcomed delegates from over 100 countries.  NuEnergy.ai will demonstrate its Machine Trust Index platform that measures trust of AI algorithms in dimensions of Privacy, Bias, Ethics, Transparency and Performance. MTI is seen as an important, transparent methodology that can support governments as they implement machine learning and artificial intelligence across their operations and has now integrated AIA.  Last night, the Treasury Board President encouraged governments around the world, and the private sector, to adopt the AIA methodology.

Niraj Bhargava, CEO of NuEnergy.ai, explains that the MTI framework in its Machine Trust software platform openly embeds tools like AIA and allows clients considering or implementing AI to proactively identify and monitor trust risks when deploying these sophisticated algorithms.  Bhargava states, “The public and private sector utilize many checks and balances for human trust – it is now time we develop them to establish trust of AI machines.”

NuEnergy.ai is further bolstered by clear messaging from the highest levels of the Canadian government —      “Canada has long shown what is possible with open government. In a digital world that defies borders, open government actions matter more than ever in order for governments to be responsive, accountable and fair to citizens. The summit will show that citizens and governments around the world must work together to address the world’s most pressing challenges to democracy to drive actions that benefit everyone.”-       The Rt. Hon. Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada.

Bhargava continued, “The time is now. AI and Big Data are accelerating forward with great promise to solve some of the world’s biggest problems.  However,” he adds, “If you can’t measure AI, you can’t manage AI.”  NuEnergy.ai is commercializing its Machine Trust Platform in 2019 and is engaged with soon-to-be-announced lead customers.
